Stevie Ray Vaughan is one of the rare artists, having a big commercial success with Blues and this as well with the sale of his records as with his concerts. He is responsible for the increase of interest towards Blues during the 80’s. The roots of his career go back to 1972, when he moved to his brother from Dallas to Houston, where in addition to Country mu- sic, Blues music started to get popular. After playing in different groups for years, Steve Ray Vaughan founded his own band “Triple Threat Revue” and in 1979 they changed the name into “Double Trouble”. His break- through was in 1982 when he was invited to the “Jazz Festival in Montreux”.

When Jackson Brown heard him playing at this festival he offered him the use of his stu- dio. In this one he recorded in only three days his first album “Texas Flood” and Stevie Ray Vaughan became a big star. The success lasted after his early death in 1990. Three other im- portant albums were: “Soul to Soul” (1985), “Live Alive” (1986) and “In Step” (1989). The Texan Blues & Rock musician died in a heli- copter crash aged 35. At Town Lake in Austin a monument remembers this excellent musi- cian, and in 2000 he got elected to the “Blues Hall of Fame”.
