Lucio Dalla
Lucio Dalla was the number one Italian “Can- tautore” (singer). Since the sixties he has been a star in Italy, and during the seventies his popularity grew also beyond the Nothern Alps. For his 13th birthday he got a clarinet from his mother, and this was the beginning of his career. Little Lucio started practicing and soon became a real master of the instru- ment. He joined the “Rheno Dixieland Band” in his hometown Bologna. His career as a sin- ger started in 1964. Due to his own interpreta- tions, and also as a writer for different artists, his popularity in Italy grew rapidly. However with the million sellers “4.3.1943” he realized the big breakthrough. One of his most famous songs is “Caruso”. This song has been cove- red by such famous artists like Luciano Pa- varotti and Florent Pagny. Lucio Dalla died in 2012 while touring in Switzerland from a heart attack.
